Academic Programs
Lipscomb’s Institute for Sustainable Practice offers an undergraduate major and minor in sustainability with an emphasis in environmental sciences. The Institute also offers graduate studies in sustainability allowing recent college graduates and experienced career professionals to specialize in and gain competitive credentials in the rapidly emerging profession of sustainability. Graduate students may choose from a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Sustainability or a Sustainability MBA (a traditional Master’s of Business Administration with a unique concentration in sustainability) in partnership with the University's College of Business. Every element of the program emphasizes a comprehensive view of sustainability for people, the planet and prosperity.
With corporations such as GE, Dupont, Louisiana Pacific, Actus Lend Lease, Alcoa, Mars and Wal-mart producing more green products and services and implementing sustainable business operations, the need for sustainability professionals and consultants is rapidly increasing.
Lipscomb’s professional sustainability programs equip students for a variety of careers in corporate and business sustainability administration, facility management, construction, green development and rennovation, sustainability consulting and entrepreneurship. Graduates of Lipscomb University's sustainability programs enter the workforce as leaders and professionals.
The institute also offers short-term summer educational programs and travel courses designed for various audiences including citizens, teachers, graduate students, environmental professionals and business executives.
The Institute's academic and profesisonal faculty come from local, national and international corporations, small businesses, academics, engineering and architectural firms and government.
