Executive Director and Assistant Professor
Galbreath brings over 25 years of experience to the Institute for Sustainable Practice (ISP). At ISP, he leads the creation and implementation of Tennessee’s first academic sustainability program to develop future leaders to serve people, the planet and prosperity for sustainable and eternal impacts. Serving two former Tennessee governors of different parties, Galbreath led efforts to implement a nationally recognized wetlands conservation plan; to create one of the nation’s first environmental justice plans; and to pass five legislative proposals for sustainable use of Tennessee’s water supplies and native rivers. More recently Galbreath has promoted natural/green infrastructure concepts for storm water management in Tennessee; provided sustainability consulting services for clients of URS Corporation, the nation’s largest engineering design firm; and has been certified to present the Gore Climate Project presentation. |

ISP Academic Director Gallaher provides academic and technical leadership for all Institute curriculum, content and educational experiences. He is a plant scientist and former chemist who teaches wide ranging undergraduate and graduate course content in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, sustainability and biodiversity. His administrative and teaching philosophy is simply as follows: “Who I serve and who I teach is much more important that what I do and what I teach!” Dr. Gallaher is the original architect and administrator of Lipscomb University’s and Abilene University’s environmental science programs. He has traveled and served widely in developing countries around the world, working in conservation and sustainable agriculture in Latin America and in educational outreach to the island nation of Madagascar, home to five percent of the world's plant and animal species, 80 percent of which are unique to that country. |
Professor Arnett is a former Provost of Lipscomb University, currently teaches biology and transdisciplinary sciences courses, and provides experienced academic mentoring for the sustainability program leadership staff. |
| Dr. Sandra Dudley Associate Director for Sustainable Engineering Applications Dudley is executive director of one of Tennessee’s newest and most modern regional water authorities located in Dickson County, Tennessee and a Lipscomb adjunct professor. Dr. Dudley previously worked as a consulting engineer and project manager for environmental management and sustainability projects with the consulting firm CH2M Hill and as a chemical engineer with Eastman Chemical Company. |

Hargis is currently Lipscomb’s director of risk management and supervises the university’s leadership efforts to serve as the first southeast test/case study site for university level, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency audits. She also helped to organize and co-host Tennessee’s 3rd annual Tennessee Higher Education Sustainability Summit in 2008 at Lipscomb University. She recently visited China as part of the Lipscomb MBA program for a business and cultural tour. |

Phipps is a former environmental consultant with Resource Consultants Inc. Dr. Phipps is responsible for the initial curriculum design for Lipscomb’s and Tennessee’s first academic sustainability program. Dr. Phipps teaches courses in transdisciplinary science, sustainable energy and chemistry. She recently completed an academic semester living and lecturing in Vienna, Austria. |

Smith provides legal and chemistry expertise from his JD and PhD from Vanderbilt University in the graduate and undergraduate sustainability curriculum. |
